Rudy Encinas, 85 a native of Victoria, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 5, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones. Family and friends will gather for visitation and rosary, Thursday, December 12th, from 6pm to 8pm at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy. in Victoria, rosary will be recited at 7pm. Rudy will be buried at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery with his late wife, Antonia "Toni" and his sons, Rudy Encinas, Jr and Gilbert Encinas.
Rudy was born, September 14, 1934 to Arturo and Basilia Hernandez Encinas. Rudy married his love, Antonia "Toni" Zamarriapa on October 9, 1953. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family, as a Project Supervisor at Lankford Painting Company. He deeply loved baseball, both playing the game and watching. Rudy was an avid New York Yankees fan. When they were younger, Rudy and Toni enjoyed traveling and finding a new place to eat. More recent years other than cheering on his beloved Yankees, Rudy enjoyed reading, working a good word puzzles and watching TV. Rudy was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Lucio; his step-father, Juan Lucio; his wife of 63 years, Toni Encinas in July of 2016; his sons, Rudy Encinas, Jr. and Gilbert Encinas; his sister, Esther Jimenez; half-sister, Girl Lucio; and half-brothers, Johnny Lucio and Mike Lucio;
Rudy is survived by his daughter, Betty Encinas; six grandchildren, Monica Brink and husband, Tim, Jennifer Nunez and husband, Michael, Gilbert Encinas and wife, Christine, Joseph Encinas and wife, Maria, Melissa Castillo and husband, Jeff, and Rudy Encinas; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; two half-sisters, Beatrice Lucio Perez and husband, Dan and Alice Solis; half-brother, David Lucio; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
